Kitchen | Contemporary"What impressed us most was the attention to detail throughout the entire process. Stephanie understood the importance of proportion, materials and craftsmanship from the outset, ensuring every element felt considered and perfectly balanced. The detailing within the walnut island, the quality of the cabinetry and the seamless integration of the appliances have created a kitchen that is both beautiful and incredibly functional. The finished space has exceeded our expectations and reflects the exceptional standards of Charles Yorke."
Contemporary elegance and classic craftsmanship
The Sorrento kitchen is a sophisticated blend of contemporary elegance and classic craftsmanship, defined by its calm palette, architectural proportions and beautifully layered materials. Softly beaded painted cabinetry forms a refined backdrop, while a striking central island introduces warmth and character through richly stained American black walnut and distinctive reeded detailing.
Wrapped in dramatic stone, the waterfall island creates a sculptural focal point at the heart of the space, combining generous preparation areas with informal dining and entertaining. Full-height cabinetry maximises storage while maintaining clean, uninterrupted lines, reinforcing the kitchen’s strong architectural presence.

A Contemporary Take on Shaker Design
The island showcases one of the defining features of the design, combining finely reeded walnut panels inset within a classic shaker frame. This contemporary interpretation of traditional cabinetry introduces texture, depth and visual rhythm, while the rich walnut finish creates a striking contrast against the lighter painted furniture. Wrapped in Calacatta Bronzite stone with waterfall ends, the island becomes a sculptural centrepiece that perfectly balances craftsmanship, materiality and modern functionality.

Pocket Door Pantry
Concealed behind full-height pocket doors, a beautifully crafted breakfast pantry introduces an additional layer of functionality and refinement to the design. Finished in richly stained walnut to complement the island, the interior features illuminated shelving, stone-lined surfaces and carefully considered storage for everyday appliances and ingredients. When opened, the space becomes a striking feature in its own right; when closed, it disappears seamlessly into the cabinetry run, preserving the clean architectural lines and understated elegance of the kitchen.

Entertaining in Style
Designed as a seamless extension of the kitchen, the bespoke drinks area balances elegant display with practical storage. Rich walnut cabinetry, illuminated open shelving and mirrored back panels create depth and atmosphere, establishing a striking focal point within the open-plan space.
Reeded walnut doors echo the detailing of the island, while the bespoke glass storage has been carefully designed to mirror the proportions and presence of the adjoining wine conditioner, creating a balanced and symmetrical composition. Dedicated areas for glassware, spirits and serving accessories ensure everything is beautifully organised and effortlessly accessible. The result is a sophisticated entertaining destination that brings warmth, character and understated luxury to the heart of the home.

Beautifully Considered Utility Space
Designed as a natural extension of the kitchen, the utility room continues the same refined palette and architectural detailing, creating a seamless transition between spaces. Softly beaded cabinetry provides generous concealed storage, while stacked laundry appliances maximise functionality within a compact footprint.
Calacatta Bronzite surfaces and matching splashbacks bring continuity to the design, complemented by a deep undermounted sink and dedicated workspace for everyday household tasks. Thoughtfully planned storage, integrated lighting and carefully considered proportions ensure the room is as practical as it is elegant, delivering a hardworking space without compromising on style.
Personalised Craftsmanship
Bespoke design is often defined by the details that remain unseen, and nowhere is this more evident than within the cabinetry itself. Hidden within the richly stained walnut drawers, each solid timber drawer box is individually engraved with the name of the home, creating a subtle and deeply personal connection between the furniture and its setting.
Crafted with the same care and precision as the visible elements of the kitchen, these bespoke engravings transform everyday storage into something uniquely meaningful. Combined with handcrafted walnut drawer organisers, they embody Charles Yorke’s commitment to creating furniture that is not only beautifully crafted, but entirely individual to the home and those who live within it.

Project Details
The Sorrento Collection by Charles Yorke is an elegant expression of contemporary classic design, where softly beaded frontals and a restrained palette create a calm, timeless backdrop. A dramatic waterfall island forms the centrepiece of the space, combining richly stained walnut cabinetry with finely reeded detailing to introduce warmth, texture and visual depth.
Crafted from veneered and solid American black walnut, the cabinetry combines softly beaded doors with richly stained timber elements to create a refined and balanced aesthetic. The island features distinctive reeded walnut detailing within a classic shaker frame, adding warmth, texture and character, while the painted perimeter furniture enhances the light and architectural feel of the space.
The outer kitchen and utility room are hand-painted in Paint & Paper Library Stone II, creating a soft and timeless backdrop that enhances the architectural character of the space. Richly stained walnut cabinetry, finished in a deep Wenge stain, provides warmth and contrast throughout, most notably within the statement island, drinks area and interior furniture elements. Together, the combination creates a sophisticated palette that balances light and dark tones with understated elegance.
The kitchen is finished with 30mm Calacatta Bronzite surfaces, featuring a refined double chamfer edge profile. The dramatic veining and warm bronze undertones of the stone create a striking focal point, complementing the rich walnut cabinetry while adding depth, elegance and a sense of luxury throughout the space.
A premium appliance suite combines a side-by-side Liebherr fridge and freezer with Miele's striking All Black oven collection, delivering exceptional performance within a clean architectural setting. A built-in Miele wine conditioner, with dual temperature zones and capacity for up to 83 bottles, provides ideal wine storage and serving conditions. The island is equipped with a BORA X Pure recirculating induction hob, seamlessly integrated into the worktop to maintain uninterrupted sightlines, while a Quooker Flex tap and matching stainless steel soap dispenser add everyday convenience with a refined contemporary finish.
The cabinetry is complemented by Liberty Collection hardware in a sophisticated dull nickel finish, providing a subtle metallic accent that enhances the timeless character of the design. Carefully selected to balance elegance and practicality, these understated details complete the space with a refined sense of craftsmanship and cohesion.
