Balanced Contrast, Timeless Form

The Englemere Framed kitchen centres on the integrity of its cabinetry, where traditional construction meets a refined, modern sensibility. Framed doors in a soft painted finish bring structure and rhythm to the space, enhanced by delicate mouldings and precise proportions. The use of traditional butt hinges introduces an authentic, heritage-led detail, thoughtfully paired with concealed soft-close action - combining craftsmanship with quiet, considered performance.

A Classic kitchen with elevated contrast

This Charles Yorke kitchen brings together classical form and subtle contrast, creating a space that feels both timeless and confidently defined. Painted cabinetry in a soft neutral tone establishes a calm, architectural backdrop, with framed doors, delicate mouldings and a shaped mantle introducing depth and traditional character.

Material contrast is introduced with restraint, allowing the cabinetry to remain the defining feature. Subtle tonal variation and carefully selected finishes create depth without distraction, reinforcing the architectural clarity of the design.

At the centre, a bold island in a rich, darker timber finish anchors the room, offering a considered counterpoint to the lighter perimeter cabinetry. Topped with a generous stone surface, it is designed for gathering as much as preparation, with upholstered seating reinforcing the kitchen’s role as a social hub.

Above, statement pendant lighting in aged brass with ribbed glass introduces a refined focal point, echoing the warm metallic accents carried throughout the scheme. This material language continues at the sink, where a Thomas Denby ceramic basin is paired with an aged brass Perrin & Rowe hot water tap and Armac Martin door furniture, creating a cohesive and carefully balanced palette.

The Lacanche range cooker is framed by a decorative mantle, drawing focus while maintaining symmetry across the elevation. Integrated Gaggenau appliances ensure functionality is seamlessly resolved, allowing the craftsmanship and proportions of the cabinetry to remain the focal point.

Beyond, the space transitions naturally into a dining area, where soft furnishings and garden views introduce a sense of comfort and connection to the outdoors. The result is a kitchen that balances elegance with practicality – grounded in tradition yet designed for modern living.

Seamless integration and refined detail

Tall, framed cabinetry creates a calm, architectural backdrop, with Liebherr Monolith fridge and freezer units seamlessly integrated behind painted doors to maintain clean lines and symmetry.

At the centre, a pocket-door breakfast cupboard introduces contrast, its darker timber interior revealing a practical, well-lit preparation space with open shelving and a stone work surface – designed to house everyday appliances while remaining easily concealed.

A setting Rich in Heritage

The influence of the surrounding area is subtly echoed within the home, where classical proportions, crafted detailing and a considered material palette create a quiet dialogue between past and present – grounding the design in its setting while remaining entirely suited to modern living.

“We have worked with Jamie and Charles Yorke in 5 houses and over 12 years. During that time we have received open, warm and personal customer service combined with complete professionalism and expertise. From concept, to design, to fitting - each stage is handled with ease and confidence. They problem solve on site when required (because not everyone is so good!) and their aftercare is dealt with swiftly and efficiently. I would recommend Charles Yorke to anyone and have done to many. They will be my first call for any future projects we take on.”

Project Details

The Englemere range embodies a refined balance of classic craftsmanship and contemporary restraint. Defined by its framed construction, elegant proportions and subtle detailing, it offers a timeless foundation suited to both traditional and modern interiors.

Materials have been carefully selected to balance beauty and performance. Cabinetry combines solid and veneered European oak in our signature Vintage Tobacco stain, with painted elements in premium hardwood and stable substrates for a flawless, durable finish. Traditional butt hinges are paired with a concealed soft-close system, uniting heritage detail with modern performance.

The cabinetry is finished in Little Greene Portland Stone 77, providing a soft, neutral backdrop, while the island is crafted in oak and stained in our signature Vintage Tobacco, introducing warmth and contrast.

Aged brass Armac Martin Carlton knobs provide a refined, tactile detail, bringing warmth and cohesion to the cabinetry. This is complemented by a 40mm honed Taj Mahal quartzite worktop, whose soft veining and muted tones enhance the overall material palette.
