"The team at Charles Yorke took our vision and transformed it into something truly special. The attention to detail is extraordinary - from the beautifully crafted island and bespoke pantry to the banquette seating that has become our favourite spot in the house. It is a kitchen that works perfectly for family life yet feels elegant enough for any occasion. We couldn't be happier with the result."

Classic luxury and timeless architectural detailing

The Florentine kitchen by Charles Yorke presents a refined interpretation of classic luxury, combining timeless architectural detailing with a calm, contemporary palette. Framed cabinetry with delicate beaded mouldings creates a sense of structure and elegance throughout the space, while the soft painted finish gives the kitchen a light, understated character.

A Sophisticated Navy Island Inspired by the AGA

At the centre of the room, a bold navy island introduces contrast and depth, becoming both a functional workspace and a visual focal point. The paint finish of the island has been carefully matched to the AGA, creating a strong sense of cohesion and balance across the scheme. Topped with a seamless pale stone surface, the island incorporates generous seating, encouraging the kitchen to function equally as a social and entertaining space. Upholstered bar stools in soft striped fabric add warmth and relaxed sophistication against the crisp cabinetry lines.

The perimeter cabinetry is carefully composed to maintain balance and symmetry, integrating refrigeration and appliances discreetly behind tall framed doors. Open oak shelving and glazed display cabinets soften the composition, introducing texture and opportunities for display while maintaining the furniture-like quality of the scheme.

A traditional AGA set beneath an architectural mantle reinforces the kitchen’s classic influences, while contemporary lighting and restrained detailing prevent the space from feeling overly formal. Layered finishes, subtle metallic hardware and carefully considered proportions create a kitchen that feels enduring, elegant and effortlessly liveable.

Classic Proportions with a Relaxed Contemporary Feel

A Shaws of Darwen double bowl sink is seamlessly integrated into the pale stone surface, introducing a timeless handcrafted element that enhances the furniture-like quality of the island. Paired with a polished chrome Quooker Round Flex tap, the combination balances traditional craftsmanship with modern functionality, bringing both practicality and refinement to the centre of the kitchen. Refined metallic hardware and framed panel detailing further emphasise the depth and craftsmanship of the cabinetry, while the generous worktop overhang encourages informal seating and relaxed interaction.

Beyond the island, the kitchen opens naturally into the adjoining dining and living spaces, allowing light to move freely throughout the interior. Tall glazed cabinetry and dedicated wine storage introduce moments of warmth and display, softening the symmetry of the painted furniture and adding a more relaxed, lived-in quality to the room.

Industrial-inspired pendant lighting introduces a contemporary edge above the island, balancing the classical proportions of the Florentine cabinetry. Combined with soft neutral tones, layered textures and carefully considered detailing, the result is a kitchen that feels timeless yet welcoming – elegant enough for entertaining, yet comfortable enough for everyday living.

A Bespoke Banquette Designed for Relaxed Living

Positioned beside the window, the bespoke banquette seating introduces a softer, more intimate moment within the Florentine kitchen creating a space designed equally for morning coffee, informal dining and relaxed conversation. Gently curved in form, the seating wraps elegantly around the circular oak pedestal table, bringing a sense of flow and architectural softness to the surrounding cabinetry.

Upholstered in a textured pale blue fabric, the banquette adds warmth, comfort and subtle colour to the otherwise neutral palette, while patterned cushions and layered textiles introduce a relaxed, lived-in character. The natural oak detailing of the table and wine storage adds warmth and material contrast against the painted cabinetry, reinforcing the furniture-like quality that defines the Florentine collection.

Surrounding cabinetry integrates glazed display storage, deep drawers and dedicated wine racks, balancing practicality with decorative appeal. Floating oak shelves and carefully styled accessories soften the vertical lines of the architecture, while the large mirrored wall panel reflects natural light back into the room, enhancing the openness of the adjoining kitchen and dining spaces.

Framed by soft natural light and tailored Roman blinds, the seating area feels calm, welcoming and effortlessly elegant a thoughtfully designed extension of the kitchen that encourages slower moments and everyday gathering.

A Hidden Pantry Designed Around Everyday Living

Concealed behind tall framed doors, the bespoke pantry introduces a highly functional yet beautifully crafted storage solution at the heart of the Florentine kitchen. Designed to feel fully integrated within the surrounding cabinetry, the pantry combines practicality with the same refined detailing and furniture-like quality seen throughout the wider scheme.

Internally finished in natural oak, the space brings warmth and texture against the softly painted exterior cabinetry, creating a subtle contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the joinery. Adjustable shelving and dedicated storage racks integrated into the doors allow everyday ingredients, spices and condiments to be organised with exceptional clarity and accessibility, transforming functional storage into something both considered and elegant.

The open preparation area below provides additional practicality for smaller appliances and daily kitchen tasks, while discreet lighting enhances both visibility and atmosphere within the space. Flanked by seamlessly integrated appliances and symmetrical cabinetry, the pantry becomes part of the kitchen’s overall architectural balance rather than appearing as a separate utility element.

Thoughtfully designed around the rhythms of modern family life, the pantry delivers generous concealed storage while maintaining the calm, refined aesthetic that defines the Florentine collection.

Project Details

The Florentine collection by Charles Yorke presents a refined interpretation of classic kitchen design, combining traditional craftsmanship with a calm contemporary sensibility. Framed cabinetry, elegant proportions and subtle moulding details create a timeless architectural character, while carefully balanced materials and finishes bring warmth and softness to the overall scheme. Designed as a space for both entertaining and everyday family living, the kitchen feels refined, welcoming and enduring.

Cabinetry is crafted using premium hardwoods alongside specialist stable substrates to achieve a flawless painted finish and long-term durability. Framed panel detailing and traditional joinery techniques reinforce the furniture-like quality of the kitchen, while natural oak interiors and shelving introduce warmth, texture and contrast throughout the scheme.

The palette combines the softness of Farrow & Ball James White with the depth of Farrow & Ball Railings on the island, creating a timeless contrast that anchors the space. Pale stone work surfaces enhance the lightness of the room, while natural oak detailing introduces warmth and texture throughout.

Tuscany White worktops introduce a calm and elegant surface material throughout the kitchen, enhancing the lightness of the space while complementing the soft painted cabinetry. The subtle veining and refined finish add depth without overwhelming the restrained palette, allowing the architectural detailing and craftsmanship of the cabinetry to remain the focal point. Used across both the perimeter and island, the stone surfaces bring durability, practicality and a timeless sense of refinement to the overall scheme.

A traditional AGA forms the centrepiece of the cooking area, reinforcing the timeless character and architectural presence of the Florentine kitchen. Acting as a natural focal point within the room, the AGA introduces both warmth and heritage to the overall scheme, enhancing the classic proportions and furniture-led aesthetic of the cabinetry.

Alongside this, Miele appliances are seamlessly integrated within the surrounding cabinetry, combining contemporary performance with the refined detailing of the furniture. Carefully positioned to maintain symmetry and visual balance, the appliances deliver modern functionality without disrupting the calm, timeless language of the kitchen.

Finishing touches include polished nickel Corona handles and Cotswold drawer pulls by Armac Martin, adding a refined metallic detail that complements the classic proportions of the Florentine cabinetry. Industrial-inspired pendant lighting introduces a contemporary edge above the island, balancing the traditional detailing and creating a kitchen that feels elegant, welcoming and designed for modern living.
