Raising money in memory of a dear friend
Sadly earlier this year we lost a dear friend and colleague, Alan Buxton, to Cancer. Alan had been with Charles Yorke for 8 years but known for many more beyond that. He had been a valued member of our team and a tremendous mentor to many of the people who work here; past and present. He was an exceptional man who will be incredibly missed.
In honour of his memory and to raise money for the fight against Cancer we will be organising what we have named, ‘The Buxton Challenge’.
The Challenge, taken on by Jamie Ellis and Alan’s son, Mark Buxton, will be to drive from Lands End to John O’Groats in Alan’s well known old Robin Reliant in only 3 days. The challenge will be taking place during the second week in August and will be aiming to raise money for Cancer Research.
James Ellis, Sales Director says “When we first decided to do the challenge we thought it would be quite an easy one to complete; having now looked at it in more detail it will certainly be quite a tall order in three days alone! We will be spurred on by the support of our team and knowing that this is all for such a great cause in honour of Alan’s memory.”
We aim to raise as much money as possible and would welcome any donation, no matter how big or small. If you would like to help us in our efforts, there are a number of ways to donate:
Via our webpage – www.justgiving.com/buxtonchallenge2013
Via mobile – text CYBC99 followed by the amount you wish to donate (£1, £3, £5, or £10) to 70070
Or by post – send a cheque made payable to ‘Cancer Research UK’ to Charles Yorke
We wish Jamie and the team all the best for what could be one of the most interesting challenges on 3 wheels, and hope that you will get behind us in supporting this very worthy cause. To keep up to date with the challenge you can visit our JustGiving website page.
